The University of Notre Dame will host this year's single-elimination Big Ten tournament at its Compton Family Ice Arena on March 18-20.
The second through seventh seeds will play the first day of the tournament, with the surviving three schools and the top seed then playing on the second day. The two survivors of those semifinals will meet for the championship on the third day, with the winner of that game ostensibly earning the conference's automatic bid to the 2021 NCAA Tournament.
Last year's Big Ten and NCAA tournaments were both canceled by COVID-19.
Minnesota (13-3-0 overall) currently leads the Big Ten standings. Arizona State is playing as a Big Ten affiliate this season, but is not eligible for the conference tournament.
Michigan (10-6-0), which is in second place in the Big Ten, recently shut down winter athletics activity due to COVID-19, as did Hockey East member Boston University.
