Minnesota's Weiss Joins Nanooks


The University of Alaska (Fairbanks) has secured a commitment from defenseman Jack Weiss for the 2015-16 NCAA campaign, according to the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner.

A 5-foot-11, 170-pound native of Bloomington, Minn., Weiss, 21, joins the Nanooks after two seasons in the North American Hockey League. In 105 career NAHL games with Minnesota and Rio Grande, he tallied one goal and 15 assists for 16 points to go along with 139 penalty minutes.

UAF begins its season on Oct. 4 with an exhibition contest against Mt. Royal university at the Carlson Center in Fairbanks.
